Arizona Star

The Arizona Star is a dynamic 3D representation of the Arizona flag. The red and yellow rays of Arizona’s western sun, and the copper star representing its mining industry, share the same blue with Old Glory. The ornament is constructed with herringbone and peyote stitches in a challenging design called a warped square. Approximate size 3 1/2″ from point to point.

Follow the Leader?

The Gambel’s quail is a common sight in the desert southwest. The mama quail is often spotted with chicks following behind her. This mama has 6 hatchlings. One is just a little contrary, as it is going the wrong way! Because the ornament is done in two halves, the contrary chick is facing his (or her) mama! This original design could be used as a glass ornament cover, or with just a little alteration, it would make a nice bracelet! The kit comes complete with all the beads needed to make the cover, including the fringe beads. The 2 3/4″ glass ornament is not included.

Commemorative Gecko Drop

The gecko enjoys the Arizona heat and is a gentle creature that does no harm. He climbs straight up and down, stays so still you don’t notice him, then moves in a flash. He is appreciated for his ability to rid the area of annoying insects.

The Gecko is a symbol of good luck. Some people don’t want to move into a new home until a gecko moves in first.

Usually no more than four inches long, the gecko is shy, avoiding us when he can, but sometimes showing up inside our houses. We carefully take him back outside, making sure we don’t harm him.
